BEML recovers on bargain hunting after 9-day 13.4% slide

On BSE, 9,151 shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 21,711 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 423 and a low of Rs 411 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 405 on Friday, 1 June 2012. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 702.15 on 16 March 2012.

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 1 June 2012, falling 21.94% compared with the Sensex`s 7.82% fall. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, tumbling 37.12% as against Sensex`s 9.21% fall.

The company has an equity capital of Rs 41.64 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

The BEML stock had tumbled 13.4% in nine trading sessions to settle at Rs 416.85 from a recent high of Rs 481.40 on 21 May 2012.

BEML reported a net loss of Rs 13.99 crore in Q4 March 2012, compared with net profit of Rs 70.25 crore in Q4 March 2011. Net sales declined 17% to Rs 774.38 crore in Q4 March 2012 over Q4 March 2011. Net profit declined 61.8% to Rs 57.25 crore on 2.5% growth in net sales to Rs 2692.97 crore in the year ended March 2012 over the year ended March 2011.

On a consolidated basis, BEML`s net profit declined 61.4% to Rs 56.74 crore on 2.6% growth in net sales to Rs 2695.10 crore in the year ended March 2012 over the year ended March 2011. The company announced the results after market hours on 31 May 2012. The stock had fallen 2.96% to settle at Rs 416.85 on Friday, 1 June 2012.

Additionally there are three Strategic Business Units (SBUs): technology division for providing end-to-end engineering solutions, trading Division for dealing in non-company products and international business division for export activities.
