Markets end flat on expiry day

It was a lacklustre trading session for the Indian markets on Thursday which was the last day of April series. The Nifty moved around 5200 level throughout the session and stayed in a narrow range.

The Nifty April Fut closed 9.4pts or 0.18% lower at 5189.2. As is normal on expiry day, the Nifty Apr Fut closed at a marginal premium of 0.2pts to the spot. The Nifty May Fut closed at a premium of 27.85pts to the spot. Total turnover in the F&O segment was Rs.1,90,370crs. Vs. Rs.1,98,860crs. in the previous session.

The biggest gainers in the F&O segment were Advanta, Areva, Punj Lloyd and McDowell. The biggest losers were GMR Infra, Uni Phos, Al Bank and On Mobile. The most active stock fut contracts were of SBI, Reliance, ICICI Bank and Infy.
