Alstom bags fixed series compensation contract from Power Grid Corporation Worth around Rs 650 million Alstom T&D India has been awarded a turnkey Fixed Series Compensation (FSC) contract worth around Rs 650 million by Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) to improve power quality on the 400 kV Wardha - Aurangabad transmission network. The contract marks yet another milestone in Alstom`s strong partnership with PGCIL to upgrade the existing transmission infrastructure in the country. Alstom will deliver the project on a turnkey basis, including design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing & commissioning of the FSC system. Under the contract, Alstom will supply capacitors, spark gaps, as well as control and instrumentation systems and an insulated platform. The project will be executed by Alstom T&D India and Alstom Grid Finland and is scheduled for commissioning in 2014. Alstom Grid inaugurates the first 1200 kV disconnector Alstom T & D India and Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) have inaugurated the world`s first 1200 kv double knee type disconnector, supplied by Alstom T&D India`s Padappai manufacturing plant in southern India. The equipment will be installed at PGCIL`s 1200 kv national test station, located in Bina (Madhya Pradesh).

Alstom wins 800 kV UHVDC contract in India Alstom has been awarded a turnkey contract worth approximately Euro 400 million by Power Grid Corporation of India, to connect Champa (State of Chhattisgarh), Central India to Khurukshetra (State of Haryana) in Northern India, using +/- 800 kV 3000 MW Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) technology. The scope of work includes overall project management, studies, design, engineering, training, manufacture, civil works at site, erection, site testing and commissioning. The main Alstom units involved in the project will be the HVDC Centre of Excellence in Stafford (UK) and the Alstom T&D India units located at Noida, Hosur, Padappai, Pallavaram and Vadodara in India. Alstom T&D India`s share in the contract would be approximately Euro 160 million (Rs 1080 crore).

Alstom T&D India commissions India`s first digital substation in Gujarat Alstom T & D India has successfully commissioned one bay of a 220 kv substation with its patented Optical Instrument Transformer, the next step towards India`s first digital substation. The substation, which is located at Jambuva in the Vadodara district of Gujarat, was contracted by the state transmission utility - Gujarat Electric Transmission Corporation. The contract was awarded to Alstom T&D India in August 2011 as a pilot project to deliver Alstom`s compact optical sensor intelligence range of instrument transformers.

Alstom T&D India secures contract Worth Rs 158 crore Alstom T & D has been awarded a contract worth Rs 158 crore from Meja Urja Nigam, a joint venture company of NTPC and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, for engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a 400 kv substaion at Meja (Allahabad) in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Alstom T & D India secures orders worth Rs 176 crore From Power Grid Corporation of India Alstom T & D India has been awarded two contracts worth Rs 176 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India. The first contract worth Rs 105 crore is for supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 80 MVAR and 110 MVAR reactors for 765 kv substations located at Gaya (Bihar), Ranchi (Jharkhand), Dharamjaygarh (Chhattisgarh) and Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh). The second contract worth Rs 71 crore is for supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 80 MVAR 765 kv reactors including complete civil work for the GIS substation at Padghe and the 765 kv substation at Aurangabad in the state of Maharasthra. Alstom T & D India secures orders from Power Grid Corporation of India Worth Rs 225 crore Alstom T & D India has been awarded two contracts from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) worth Rs 225 crore. The contract worth Rs 75 crore for supply, testing, erection and commissioning of 765 kv auto transformers for substation of PGCIL at Ranchi in the state of Jharkhand and another contract worth Rs 150 crore for supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 765 kv auto transformers for Dharamjaygarh and Aurangabad substations of PGCIL in the states of Chattisgarh and Maharashtra respectively. Alstom T&D India secures contract for 400/220kV substation at Daltonganj Worth Rs 41 crore Alstom T & D India has been awarded a contract worth Rs 41 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India for supply, erection and commissioning of a 400/220 kv high voltage alternating current substation at Daltonganj, Jharkhand.

Alstom T&D India successfully charges 765/400 kV Switchyard Bays at Bhiwani in record time of eight months Alstom T&D India has successfully charged three Switchyard Bays at 765 kV and 400 kV each, in March 2012 in a record time of less than eight months, for Power Grid Corporation of India. Power Grid, the country`s central transmission utility, awarded the contract worth Rs 196 crore to Alstom T&D India in February 2010. Due to delay in land acquisition the company could start work on the 765 kV switchyard in July 2011. The scope of work included design, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 765 kV, 400 kV and 220 kV equipments, comprising complete civil work for their green field project at Bhiwani in the State of Haryana, India. This Bhiwani switchyard is considered as a nodal switchyard for wheeling power from independent power producers in northern India and strengthening the transmission system in the northern region of the country. The switchyard shall cater to various other 765 kV switchyards in northern India namley Moga, Jhatikara, Meerut and Jaipur.

Alstom T&D India wins a 400 kV gas-insulated substation contract worth Rs 96 crore From MSETCL Alstom T&D India has been awarded a contract worth Rs 96 crore from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission (MSETCL), for the erection, testing and commissioning of a 400/220 kV Gas-insulated Substation in the Hinjewadi district of Pune, in Maharashtra state. The contract will also include associated civil work for the substation. Hinjewadi is the emerging IT centre of Maharashtra and planned infrastructure development is increasing the demand for power. The GIS substation, having a transformation capacity of 7x167 MVA will help in meeting the energy demands of the area while eradicating land scarcity issues, as GIS technology allows the substation to be more compact. The GIS substations are highly reliable and help to reduce pollution. Alstom T&D India was the first company in the country to localise GIS technology up to 400 kV at its manufacturing facility in Padappai, (Chennai), in southern India.

Areva T&D India delivers National Load Dispatch Center for Bhutan Power Corporation Areva T&D India has delivered a National Load Dispatch Center (NLDC) as part of a Rs 17.20 crore contract with Bhutan Power Corporation (BPC). This represents the third largest national control center delivered by Areva T&D India in the region. The project established a coordinated network management and control system between existing BPC substations, the Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC), other generating stations and the Indian national grid. Under the terms of the contract, Areva T&D India delivered its world-leading e-terra suite of network management software applications to enable BPC to improve power reliability and stability, and better utilize power surplus. The software will also coordinate Bhutan`s power exchange with the rest of the Indian grid. The fuly automated energy management system has a scalable architecture that will allow BPC to easily adapt new smart grid technologies as needed. This annual awards ceremony, organized by Council of Power Utilities (CPU), acknowledges organizations that demonstrate leadership in design, innovation, research and execution of projects in the Indian Power Sector. The award presented to Areva T&D India was for the successful delivery of 1200 kV Capacitor Voltage Transformer (CVT) to POWERGRID for its National Test Station at Bina, Madhya Pradesh. With this landmark project, Areva T&D India became the first local manufacturer to indigenously develop and type test such an Ultra High Voltage Technology product in India. Areva T&D India wins a 220 kV substation contract worth Rs 40 crore With Reliance Power for India`s largest solar power plant Areva T&D India`s transmission business, now part of Alstom Grid has been awarded a contract worth Rs 40 crore with Reliance Power for turnkey design and construction of 220 kv substation. The contract is for proposed 350 MW Doorsar Solar Power Plant in the state of Rajasthan. This plant is India`s largest solar power project. The turnkey contract involves design and construction of the substation including transformers, control, protection, monitoring systems and civil works of the plant. Areva T&D India signs MoU with Power Grid Corporation To provide 1,200 KV ultra high voltage technology for Bina Substation Areva T&D India`s transmission business (a part of Alstom Grid) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Power Grid Corporation of India to provide ultra high voltage technology for Power Grid`s upcoming 1,200 kV UHVAC National test Station at Bina in Madhya Pradesh. Power Grid is in the process of establishing a 1,200 kV ultra high voltage AC transmission system at Bina. This development will facilitate field testing of equipment before deploying the technology for commercial purposes. AREVA T&D India secures orders From Essar Projects Areva T&D India has secured two eBOP (electrical balance of plant) contracts aggregating Rs 290 crore from Essar Projects for their upcoming power projects at Tori, Jharkhand and Paradip, Orissa. Tori and Paradip are 1200 MW super thermal power and 120 MW thermal power projects respectively. The scope of work includes supply and installation of electrical balance of plant solutions for two 600 MW thermal power plants at Tori, Jharkhand and four 30 MW units thermal power plants at Paradip, Orissa for which Areva T&D India will manufacture and install a 400 KV gas insulated substation and 220 KV air-insulated substation (AIS), as well as distribution and power transformers and low voltages switchboards.
