Sterlite Technologies has announced that the company has received new
orders valued at approximately Rs 630 crore in Q4 FY13. The orders booked
were sourced from a diversified customer base with varying delivery
schedules, most of which would be executed over the course of FY14.
In power transmission business, the company secured orders worth around Rs
430 crore, which include orders for Rs 80 crore from Power Grid Corporation
of India for system strengthening in the southern region of India and
export orders worth Rs 130 crore, making it the highest-ever exports orders
booked in a quarter, for this segment. Of these, orders from new customers
in Africa and Latin America were worth around Rs 85 crore.
In telecom business, order books for the quarter were around Rs 200 crore,
which include export orders worth Rs 140 crore and pilot orders from new
customers in Afghanistan, Kenya and the US.

Sterlite Technologies has announced that it is currently involved in
several landmark Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments in the Netherlands, a
country that is experiencing a significant upswing in FTTH connectivity. As
a leading provider of optical fibre-based products and services, Sterlite
is bringing high-speed, fibre-based broadband access to people living in
the Netherlands.
By December 2012, Sterlite had 10,000 connected homes across 2 cities in
the country. The company now aims to add another 40,000 households to the
fibre-optic network by the end of 2013, thereby extending its services to 5
cities. Sterlite`s scope of work includes delivery of all optical fiber
passive components, project management, warehousing, logistics and product
training.
In the Netherlands, Sterlite will continue to implement projects in a
phased manner. This will involve deploying more than 400 km of fibre cable
and 3,000 km of direct buried fibre access cable together with ducts,
micro-tubes, ODF drawers and cabinets, as part of the entire project
requirements to complete the FTTH installation.
According to the FTTH council, the Netherlands currently has a Fiber-to-
the-Home penetration of close to 5% and with the European nations racing
towards Fiber maturity, it is expected to reach as high as 70% by the end
of 2018. Being a part of this network expansion, Sterlite aims to enable a
sizeable fraction of FTTH connections in households across the Netherlands.

Jiangsu Sterlite Tongguang Fiber Company (JSTFCL), the joint venture
company formed between Sterlite Technologies and Jiangsu Tongguang
Communication Company (TGCI) today announced the commencement of production
of optical fiber at their new facility located in Haimen, Jiangsu Province
in China.
The green-field factory has been set up with an investment of around $25
million. China with a total annual demand of optical fiber of more than 100
million km is an extremely important market for Sterlite Technologies and
this strategic investment will help the company establish a stronger
foothold in the market.
While Sterlite brings expertise in optical fiber technology, TGCI brings
significant fiber cable manufacturing expertise and market reach in China.
With the benefits of extended product lines, JSTFCL would make it faster,
easier and more cost-effective for utilities and service providers to build
new age communication infrastructure.

Sterlite Networks (SNL) is based in Dadar and Nagar Haveli. SNL is a 100%
wholly owned subsidiary of Sterlite Technologies. SNL undertakes business
operations in the telecom sector. It serves as an infrastructure provider,
providing dark fibre, right of way, duct space, tower (IP Category 1),
electronic mail and voice mail services.
SNL connected 25,000 homes through networks, and also launched `FiON`
brand, in FY 2011-12. During this period, it also entered into partnership
with BSNL for its FTTH rollout in Chennai.
On 11th September 2012, the Government of India has approved Foreign Direct
Investment (FDI) of Rs 500 crore in SNL.
SNL was formed in FY 2011-12 only, and Sterlite Technologies had invested
Rs 5 lakh in SNL (50000 shares of Rs 10 each at par) as of March 2012.
Further, Sterlite Technologies had given loans and advances of Rs 4.10
crore during FY 2011-12 to SNL, which was also outstanding as of March
2012. |

Sterlite Technologies has announced that the company`s wholly owned
subsidiary company, Sterlite Grid has announced placement of orders for its
765 kV transmission lines with KEC and Simplex Infrastructure.
The scope of these orders includes engineering, supply and construction of
765kV transmission lines terminating at Bhopal and Dhule Substations. These
substations are also being developed by Sterlite Grid and were ordered
earlier this year with Areva T&D, Hyundai (Korea) and BTW (China).
The contract, which was signed on 17 January 2012, is part of a investment
by Sterlite Grid for its project that involves establishment of four 765 kV
Single Circuit transmission lines, and two 765kV substations for
strengthening the Western Region. The sub--stations would be set up at
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) and at Dhule (Maharashtra), and are part of the
transmission systems strengthening project awarded to Sterlite Grid on a
`Build, Own, Operate and Maintain` (BOOM) basis. The transmission lines
would be commissioned within 3 years and the company would operate and
maintain the same for a minimum tenure of 35 years thereafter.

Sterlite Technologies has received two new contracts from Power Grid
Corporation of India (PGCIL) for manufacture and supply of power
conductors.
The first contract is for Sterlite power conductors, that would be used in
the 765 KV double circuit Champa-Raipur Pooling Station Transmission Line
into he Indian State of Chattisgarh. This is one of India`s first 765 KV
double circuit transmission systems being developed by a public sector
company, designed for high voltage power transmission.
The second contract is for Sterlite power conductors, that would be used in
the 400KV Kishnganj-Patna Line. This transmission system is intended to
evacuate power from hydroelectric generation projects in Sikkim, to the
Northern and Western regions of India. This project complements the
Ministry of Power`s focus on green energy, generated from renewable natural
resources. These contracts valued at about Rs 225 crore, are part of a
total bank of new orders valued at about Rs 450 crore that Sterlite has
received since 01 July 2011.

India.
The scope of the project includes establishment of world-class connectivity
for 120 universities across the country. This infrastructure would act as
an information backbone, enabling every university in the network to
function as an e-university. This platform would facilitate high bandwidth
data transmission that is essential for e-learning and video-based
learning.
The company would connect 30 universities to this backbone during FY12,
would connect the remaining 90 universities by FY14 and would manage the
network for five years thereafter. Sterlite has streamlined its efforts to
implement the network well within the required project schedule.
This project is part of the `National Mission on Education through
Information and Communication and Technology (ICT)` undertaken by the
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
