What Is The IPO Allotment Status And How Does One Check It?
HDFC, Tester
The IPO allotment status gives you all the information about the number of shares allotted to an investor in an Initial Public Offering (IPO). The IPO allotment process is carried out by the registrar of the IPO. The IPO allotment date is usually the date when the allotment status is announced to the public. Investors can do the IPO allotment check by visiting the website of the registrar once the allotment is done. IPO investors are also told about the new IPO allotment status by the BSE, NSE, NSDL, CDSL via emails and SMSes.
How To Check The IPO Status
An IPO-allotment status is available on the registrar’s website. The investor can check their allotment status by entering their PAN number or the IPO allocation number. The registrar of the IPO also published an allotment document, which gives you all the details when it comes to the number of applications received and how the allotments are done.
Each IPO has a designated registrar, which is a financial institution registered with the SEBI and stock exchanges. Registrars keep issue records and the ownership of the company shares. The registrar is responsible for the allotment of shares to investors in an IPO.
Check IPO Allotment Status Through NSE Or BSE
One of the first methods to check the allotment status is through the stock exchanges. Most of the IPOs are listed either only on the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) or both the NSE (National Stock Exchange) and the (BSE) Bombay Stock Exchange. You will need to have a login account with NSE to proceed with the NSE option.
Check IPO Allotment Status Through IPO Registrar
The IPO allotment status can be checked on the IPO registrar's official website. You can search for your choice of IPO in the 'search' option.
Check IPO Allotment Status By Email Or By Post
While this method takes a bit longer, you will get an email from the IPO registrar with the details of allotment. Most registrars also despatch a physical letter.
